DMK most likely to support Ansari as Vice President

Chennai, July 14 : After plating a key role in the selection of the Congress led UPA government at the centre in the selection of the Presidential candidate, its important ally DMK President M Karunanidhi today said his party may support Mr Ansari's candidature.

When asked if he had recommended to the UPA any candidate for the Vice Presidential election, the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said 'i have not recommended anybody.' It may be recalled that the DMK supremo was the first to put up the candidature of Pranab Mukherjee to succeed president Pratibha Patil at Raiina Hill.

Askedd about Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's criticism of the UPA government aas well as Mr Karunanidhi on the failure to pull up the Sri lankan government on the issue of training to their Air Force pilots, he said 'I have also seen that statement. That does not read like one that comes from a Chief Minister.' He alleged that Ms Jayalalithaa's crticism was nothing but 'gibberish.'
