After my heart attack I read books which just quoted statistics, medical jargon and studies, with no real worthwhile content for everyday practical living with heart trouble.

Writing this book has helped me to understand what happened to me and how to cope both physically and emotionally. It gave me a big kick in the backside to get my lifestyle under control.

It?s essential to build a strong foundation for your body to thrive on ? you have to give yourself a helping hand with heart health being top of the list!

?As a healthy 45 year old, having a heart attack was never something I thought would happen to me ? boy was I wrong ? it completely blew me away. I na?vely thought only older people had heart attacks.?

?Heart Attack! But I?m too young to have a heart attack? were the soul shattering words I uttered when I was told that the nausea and chest pain I was feeling wasn?t caused by a bad case of indigestion.

I was so shocked I could barely speak, the tears just rolled down my face. That awful moment changed my life forever. To say my world came crashing down around me is an understatement.

Being an avid reader with a myriad of interests, I am always looking for new and interesting books to read. While browsing on the internet recently, I stumbled upon an interesting e-book entitled Heart Attack! But I?m too young to have a heart attack?, written by Leanne Sexton. I was immediately intrigued by the book?s title, and thought that it deserved more than just a cursory read. Imagine my alarm when I learned that Ms. Sexton, someone who reportedly maintained a very healthy lifestyle, had suffered a heart attack at the age of 45. I was hooked, as I found myself mesmorized by Ms. Sexton?s detailed account of her obviously harrowing and alarming experience. She shares with her readers the long and arduous road she took in order to recover, but fortunately, the author had the tenacity and sheer will to survive this life-threatening ordeal.

As a result of this life-changing experience, Ms. Sexton appears to have seized this opportunity to become fully educated about every aspect of heart health. And in doing so, she has compiled a remarkably detailed book, one that will provide its readers with much-needed and very valuable information. Without a doubt, Heart Attack! But I?m too young to have a heart attack? will ultimately prove to be an indispensable resource to people of all ages, but in particular, to younger, unsuspecting people who aren?t necessarily informed about heart health.

My name is Leanne Sexton and at the age of 45 I suffered a heart attack that could have taken my life.

I?m not overweight, am vegetarian, have never smoked, only have the occasional glass of wine and was healthy, so what happened to me should never have happened, but it did.

Although I was with family I felt so scared and alone. The feelings of helplessness and isolation just washed over me and covered me with a total sense of despair which left me wondering how on earth I was going to get through this. I felt emotionally and physically exhausted. I struggled with self doubt, wondering if I had the courage and faith to pull myself together.

If you had told me 18 months ago that my world would be turned upside down by a major health scare, I would have said ?no way?.

In hospital there is a certain level of comfort that if anything goes wrong there will be immediate assistance. But what happens when you get home and it?s just you? I can tell you its scary, you feel anxious and isolated with every little twinge in your chest ringing the alarm bells. You get stronger but you need guidance. It?s never too early or too late for healthy lifestyle changes!

After my heart attack I had a lot of trouble sleeping and keeping my mind focused on my recovery. Making quality time for me was hard because I kept thinking of all the work I should be doing instead of making sure I was looking after myself properly.
