Classic Muscle Cars ? The Ford Mustang | INSURANCE QUOTES

The automotive industry today has a number of classic muscle cars for sale, ranging from the very old classics, to the modern, cutting-edge versions. Of all these though, there are only a handful of names that have truly endured over the decades, and one of them is the Ford Mustang, one of the top names in the muscle car industry. It is a car that had transformed numerous times in the past, becoming one of the world?s most recognized muscle cars, then and now.

The Mustang was first thought of on 1964 in Michigan, when Ford needed a brand new car to cater to the brand?s fans. The Mustang was then born, whose name some say was based on a famous WWII fighter, the P-51 Mustang, and some say was based on ?The Mustangs?, a famous book. Regardless of the name?s origin, when the Mustang was unveiled at the New York World?s Fair on April, 1964, people saw its potential to be among the very best classic muscle cars.

Since the first car was revealed, 4 generations followed suit, bringing a total of 5 Generations of the Ford Mustang. The first one, a Fastback 2+2 model with a large Taurus V4 engine and classic interior design, became one of the most popular of all the Mustang models, sales of which shot through the roof in a very small amount of time. This success, however, will not appear fully in the next two Generations of the Mustang, both of which will find it very difficult to match the 1st?s.

Generation 2 of the Ford Mustang was a shell of its former self, a weaker, smaller, and less popular version due to the changes made in the U.S. safety and emission regulations. This trend continued to the 3rd Generation of the Mustang, which had a Japanese design, made to try and compete with the arrival of small, cheap, and easily maintained Japanese automobiles that were suited for the increasing fuel prices at the time. The 2nd and 3rd Generations would not achieve the same success as the 1st Generation, though by the time the 4th Generation arrived, fans would again be invigorated with the Mustang spirit.

This is because 1994?s 4th Generation had with it a number of elements inspired from the earlier 1960s cars, which gave the 4th Generation some of the things that made the Mustang popular and attractive in the first place. This continued with the 5th Generation car which came in 2005, which is the Mustang that most closely paid homage to the first cars of the line. As you have just read, there are many Mustangs available, for people browsing for cheap muscle cars, and for people looking to get the very best and most high-end muscle car available today!
